How it works
From first payment to filed, in three steps.
01
Tell us four things
Filing status, expected profit, any day-job wages and your state. Quarterbird works out the share of every payment that belongs to the IRS.
02
Bring in your payments
Download a CSV from Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Stripe, Square or your bank. Swipe each one business or personal; we remember the merchant.
03
Save, then pay on time
See what's safe to spend from each payment, move the rest to savings, and pay each quarter with a reminder and a link to IRS Direct Pay.
20%
The number most freelancers never get told.
A single filer with $60,000 of 2026 freelance profit and no other income should set aside about 20% of every payment for federal taxes. Yours depends on your situation; Quarterbird works it out for you, and keeps it current as you earn.

Read guide →Does Quarterbird file my taxes?+
No. We help you save the right amount all year, pay quarterly on time, and keep a clean Schedule C summary. At tax time, export it for your preparer or tax software, or share a read-only link with your accountant.
Do I need to connect my bank?+
No. Import CSV exports from the apps you already use. If we add bank linking later, it will always be optional.
How accurate is the set-aside percentage?+
It uses the 2026 federal brackets, self-employment tax, the QBI deduction, the standard deduction and your state rate. It's an estimate for planning, designed to err slightly high rather than leave you short.
What happens when my free trial ends?+
We send a reminder 2 days before, with the date and amount. Cancel in one tap and you pay nothing. Keep it and you're charged once, at a price that's locked for as long as you stay.
Be early to every deadline.
Try Quarterbird free for 14 days. We'll remind you before the trial ends.
